4.16 prey

Messages begin pouring in from the Alpha Quadrant: personal letters, and, underneath, an encoded message from Starfleet that may include maps and will take some time to decipher. To increase the speed of message transfer, Voyager moves closer to the relay point, a 100,000 year old unmanned space station that harnesses the power of a tiny quantum singularity (black hole). When Tuvok and Seven take a shuttle close to the station to stabilize it and increase the speed of the message transfer, they are captured by the Hirogen, a fierce luke-I-am-your-father hunter race that intend on keeping Tuvok and Seven as trophies. Janeway figures out a way to destabilize the station, which draws in and destroys all four attacking Hirogen ships, and Kim beams Tuvok and Seven out just in time.

Sub-plots revolve around the letters received and not received. Chakotay and Torres are devastated to learn that almost all of the Maquis have been killed by the Dominion. Janeway is shocked to discover that her fiancée Mark has given her up for dead and remarried; Paris wants no reminders of who he was on earth until Torres downloads part of a letter from his father, and Kim finally gets the letter from his parents that he was hoping for.

  1. I was wanting to read a more detailed storyline to remember if this is the last ep. i broke of from season 4 years ago (i started watching Voyager on free digital from season 5 with the same special enjoyment i had previously).

Anyway i've said before the hard work U've put into this blog is well appreciated so i hope no offence is caused being pedantic by pointing out an insignificant mistake i've noticed from gaining benefit from your hard work ( the description of Janeway deliberately destroying the ancient Hirogen space station to save their necks made me remember i have definitely seen this (wasnt sure weather it was that or was 'Prey' was the first i hadn't seen) (imo the Hirogen where once the "Borg" of their time, since for whatever reason becoming a nomadic race their dominance + civilization faded away - they may have originally built + had such incredible tech/empire that stretched **ALL THE WAY** over **TO the ALPHA QUADRANT** - i remember you slating "Flesh + Blood" saying how can they come across the Hirogen again - their old empire was vast as indicated + they are nomadic now (no home always travelling so they could come across the Hirogen again likely just a different tribe - clearly the holo tech Janeway gave them in "Killing Game" must have spread rapidly to all the tribes throughout the quadrant via communication whether intentional or not such was its value to the Hirogen's hunting, perhaps to end their nomadic ways + set up a more cultured, community based association, home or base area)

*****point****Anyway its just that when i read your episode summary for "Hunters" i know enough about "Prey" to know you'd just put that following/follow up arc, episode plot there instead, while putting the "Hunters" plot under the "prey" episode header.

(just a one off comment - for unique reasons of my situation - previously noted)
