4.17 retrospect

Seven is agitato; the doctor uses his newly programmed psychoanalyst subroutines to bring to light a repressed memory of a shady alien arms dealer who knocked her out and stole nanoprobes. He convinces the captain that the story must be true. The dealer begs Voyager not to accuse him, as even the accusation is enough to end his career, but the investigation proceeds. Seeing that his fate is already decided, the dealer flees, and, when pursued, attacks Voyager, not believing Janeway when she states that they have found new evidence proving his innocence. When his ship overloads and explodes while he is charging weapons, and he dies, it leaves Seven and the doctor to deal with their remorse over the incident.

Wow…the second depressing episode in a row. In both episodes, Seven was directly or predominantly responsible for the death of an alien. What is worse is that only a few weeks have passed since she condemned a member of species 8472 to death by beaming it onto a Hirogen ship. I have to question Janeway’s treatment of Seven – it is way too lenient.
