4.18 the killing game (part 1)

Why is Janeway on the holodeck, acting like a member of the French resistance in a small town during World War II? It’s because the Hirogens have captured the ship, and their commander has turned the deck into a playing field for his soldiers (as the Nazis) and most of the crew, who have been fitted with implants and really believe they are in World War II. Seven is the exception; she works with Kim and the doctor, who are still on the ship, to affect an escape. Janeway’s implant is deactivated just as Chakotay and Paris, the ground troops, liberate the city and blast a hole in the holodeck leading to the ship. They view this hole as a Nazi bunker, and, as they prepare to invade, Kim tells the Hirogen commander, "You wanted a war…well, now you’ve got one!"
